probably not having to worry about anything, even if i sucked at it. didn't feel right leaving dishes out by the door or not even making the bed, but... it was also nice.

and the beach at night.

It's difficult to turn that constant white noise of worry and preparing for danger off ain't it? Soldiers deserve that rest more than others.

One of my favorites. Catch any nice sunsets or rises? I always liked running in the morning best.

yeah. like... i don't turn it off. it's always there. but i manage it differently, i guess.

it was a change from seeing the sunrise in brooklyn. didn't do much running, though. sand's a pain in the ass.

You find a way to lower the volume a bit? Maybe put it on mute for longer drags of time? I bet Magnus helps with that.

Ain’t nothing quite like a New York sunrise, especially from the air. All that pollution really makes the sun refract, or so Beast tells me. It’s a literal pain in the rear. Sand’s harder to run on than pavement. Good for your legs.

i've seen it from tall buildings, yeah. but i like it better on the beach. nothing getting in the way of the view. though there's no sand in the city.

I know sugah. We got a duty to fight for our worlds to be a better place, but we also got to take care of ourselves from time to time too.

If I can borrow a little flying power from someone would you like to take a spin sometime? I mean, I could fly a jet but I don't think they rent those out here.

i do still do that but i try new things. so much of it i wouldn't even be able to do at home at all.

Here is the exact opposite extreme, which is terribly unnerving.

alright, sure. i can already use some of my runes to do something almost like that. jumping long distance and stuff.

I'm used to being able to borrow supplemental powers real easy back home, but it's trickier here.

Do you worry about that sometimes?

Yes and no. When I came here, I had two of my friends’ powers. Those were dampened, but they were also temporary. My mutation remains unaffected.

in a sense. i worry it'll be tough going back to my life the way it was. not that i won't be able to or that i'll be less good at what i do, just that i'll know what it's like to... have time to do other things.

can you just take powers here still then? as per city power caps?

Then you cherish the hell out of the good memories and carpe diem while you can, especially since death could be right around the corner.

Yeah, but it's like borrowing a library book on a time limit. I used to not have control, couldn't touch nobody skin to skin without maybe killing or putting them in a coma. First boy I kissed experienced both, and it messed me up real bad. Kept my mutation from evolving properly. Took a real strong telepath to sort things out eventually, and that won't too long ago neither. That's the short, simplified version too.

i'm sorry. not having control at all sounds awful. it doesn't sound easy, having any sort of power. magic or mutation, whatever you want to call it. it's not all perks.
