permissions | her mutation

Rogue has the ability to use skin-on-skin physical contact to absorb the powers, energies, memories, knowledge, talents, personality, and physical abilities (superhuman or otherwise) of another human, mutant, or even some sentient alien races. In gaining another person’s memories, she also gains the emotional responses connected to them. Her mutation only works on living organic beings, and may possess the powers of several superhumans at once. If two of these beings maintain skin-on-skin contact while she touches either person, Rogue (when she has control) is able to absorb from both beings. The transfer is usually temporary to the duration of physical contact at a 60:1 ratio, but can be permanent in some cases.

No upper limit has been determined in regards to the number of superhumans’ power she can maintain simultaneously, or the amount of power she can absorb. However, during Uncanny Avengers Rogue absorbed the powers of nearly all the X-Men and Avengers in order to save Earth from a certain death at the feet of the Celestial Exitar, but that much power drove her mad. It’s been documented on smaller scales (relative to the aforementioned event) that her control over absorbed abilities and powers decreases the more she possesses.

During most of her life, the use of her power has been involuntary, but during X-Men Legacy, Professor Xavier removes the psychological blocks of her own subconscious creation that impeded the natural growth and evolution of the power within her. This gave her control for a spell, but she still habitually wore gloves and clothing that reduces the chance of accidental brushes with her skin.

Her powers have also grown over time. A newer component to this power is that she requests permission from those she touches by prompting them, usually by asking if she can borrow some, sugah. Unfortunately, if they resist they will suffer, whereas if they submit to the absorption willingly, then the process becomes fluid without consequences.

At her current canon point in Duplicity, Rogue does not have control of her powers anymore.

That all being said, if you'd prefer that Rogue not use her power on your character by force and/or by request, please let me know. Alternatively, if you'd be okay with her using her powers, this is the post for that too. Rest assured, I will ALWAYS discuss use of her powers against another character OOCly with the player prior to writing it.

Vash the Stampede & Tim Stoker

For future reference - I'm fine with Rogue using her powers on any of my characters!

Vash the Stampede

Some fun things to note: Vash is basically a walking nuclear power plant. He can morph his body into nearly any shape he wants, but he likes to pretend to be human and never really uses this himself. He also has a high intelligence, super speed, and a long life. That's just the over arching bold points. If it ever comes up, I'm happy to give more detail.

His memories also come with some content warnings - attempts of genocide, child experimentation, body horror, and mass murder to list the big ones.

Tim Stoker

Tim is just a normal human. He's from a horror podcast and has seen some awful things. CWs include: murder, evil clowns, body horror, bugs, gaslighting, and so many other things.
